Getting Started

What you’ll need:

Start by measuring the room wall-to-wall, and draw the space on your planning sheet. This will give you an overall dimension of the space you have to work with. Then measure the location of the windows (from casing to casing), and put them on your plan as well — located along the correct walls. Do the same for any doors in the room and indicate which way they open.

Locate the sink, dishwasher and stove and mark them on the sheet as well, including their height and width. Make a note if they can be moved by an inch or two, or if you plan on moving it to a different location altogether. Now, measure your refrigerator — both height and width. If you are getting a new refrigerator, make sure to note the measurement of the new unit. If you have an over-the-stove microwave, we will need the height of that unit – which you can get from your appliance supplier if you don’t already have it.

Now, measure the height of your room from floor to ceiling along the walls where there will be cabinets. Make measurements in 2-3 foot increments along the walls. This will tell us if the room is off — believe it or not, most rooms are irregular.

Now measure your current cabinet base, from the back wall to the toe-kick under your cabinet. Also measure the toe kick edge to the front of the cabinet. Lastly – are there any other significant features in the room? Any pipe chases, vents, any other items we need to be aware of? Just make note of them.

Now, do you want to keep a similar layout? Or are you looking for a total change? If so, just print a second planning sheet, sketch in what you would like, and then be sure to fax us both sheets. Next, select a cabinet style from one of our lines of cabinetry.

If you have a digital camera, take about 8 to 10 shots of your kitchen and email them to us. Be sure to include your name, address and phone number on the email. You can find all of our contact information here.

Typical turn-around for a price estimate is 1-2 days.
